Ivan L. Johnson
Chair
A retired bank officer, Johnson has served as chair since the Foundation's
inception in 1984, and chairs the Investment Committee. He also
serves on other community boards including the Food Bank of Iowa,
Care Initiatives, and the Ankeny-Des Moines Exposition Park.

Don C. Green, MD
Vice Chair
Since retiring from private medical practice, Dr. Green continues
to provide care in various Iowa clinics. He is one of the Foundation’s
original board members (1984) and chairs the Grant Review Committee.

Thomas Jeschke, EdD
Secretary/Treasurer
Retired Director of Student Services for the Des Moines Public Schools,
Jeschke has provided much insight since joining the board in 1995 and was
honored nationally in 1985 as Outstanding Educator of the Year.
Matt McGarvey
The Director of the Wellmark Foundation, Matt has been actively involved in projects that improve health in
Iowa and South Dakota, as well as serving in leadership positions in state and regional associations of
grantmakers. He is a graduate of Central College, and received his master's degree in public
administration from Drake University. McGarvey joined the board in 2007.
Becky Miles-Polka
As founder and Principal of Within Reach Consulting Services, Becky
provides technical expertise in strategic planning, organizational
and community development, program development, needs analysis,
group facilitation and coaching to organizations, coalitions and
partnerships, including serving as technical assistance liaison
to the Annie E. Casey Foundation Making Connections initiative.
Previously, Becky served as the Executive Director of the Center
for Healthy Communities at Iowa Health System, has served in many
community leadership roles and has been responsible for leading
collaborative approaches to addressing community health needs. Miles-Polka joined the board in 2007.

Teree Caldwell-Johnson
Joining the Mid-Iowa Health Foundation board in 2002, Caldwell-Johnson
also serves on the boards of the United Negro College Fund, Planned
Parenthood Foundation, Greater Des Moines Community Foundation,
Des Moines Symphony, and Drake University Diversity National Advisory
Board.

Nolden Gentry
Attorney and partner in the Brick Gentry Law Firm, Gentry assumed
a role on the board in 1995. A dedicated community member, he has
served on governing boards of over 20 Des Moines organizations.

Rob Hayes
A board member since 1995, Hayes is Senior Vice President for the
Investment Consulting Group of Wachovia Securities. He has also
served on boards for the Iowa Society to Prevent Blindness and United
Way of Central Iowa. Hayes chairs the Foundation's Audit Committee.

Judith Vogel, CFA
Joining in 2002, Vogel is a chartered financial analyst and member
of the Association for Investment Management and Research and the
Des Moines Society of Financial Analysts. She also serves on the
Central College Board of Trustees.
