Ubuntu is a South African indigenous philosophy of humanity, specifically it's an xhosa saying, “umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu” often translated as “I am because we are.” This philosophy of humanity and interdependent connections of every life guides our approach to leadership development. We believe leaders are a byproduct of individual humanity, family, community, and guided learning. The UBUNTU leadership academy seeks to empower youth to become cultural competent leaders through exposure, communal relationships, and intentional academic, social, and professional support.
